Hydro-excavation
Hydro-excavation, also called hydro-vac excavation, is used in place of traditional digging methods to dig pipelines. High-pressure water breaks up the soil and the excavation is much safer and causes less damage. Located in South Texas, Hydro-Con, LLC offers hydro-excavation services to excavate buried pipelines and underground utilities and telecommunication lines, dig trenches, locate subsurface pipelines and utilities, and dig underground tunnels. Other applications include directional drilling, pole and sign installation, landscaping, potholing, sewer and pipe rehabilitation, and waterline repair and maintenance.
Hydro-excavators use high-pressure water to break up the soil, and simultaneously suck the soil up with an industrial-strength vacuum. The soil gets stored in a tank. This method is safer, more exact, uses less labor, and has less environmental impact compared to traditional excavation methods. Additionally, hydro-vac excavation greatly reduces the chance of damaging underground utilities or pipelines.
Traditional methods of excavation, such as using a mechanical excavator or backhoe are fraught with danger to people and property. Injury, explosions, fire, and deaths occur every year, caused by poorly planned excavations, unsafe work sites, or collapsed trenches. Damage to pipelines and utilities are also a risk. Hydro-excavation practically eliminates these risks. Hydro-Con is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide emergency hydro-excavation work.
